Harry's friend Mildred talks him into looking for a handful of precious jewels, which leads to Harry bonding with two curious cats while being pinned behind a couch, a discovery of a different kind of drug ring, a bit of grave robbing, and a jealous Cat.

Sisters The Harry Neal and Cat Mystery Series Book 6 eBook Bentley Dadmun

As usual, Harry's investigation starts small. In searching for jewels missing after the death of the sister of his "client", Harry must face a number of problems and situations, some unpleasant and some potentially threatening to Harry's future. The end has a couple of unexpected twists in it.

More than most of the series stories, this one provides a deeper look into Harry's character and philosophy. Although the main character of the story, Harry is much more interesting - and much deeper - than most mystery "heroes". Dadmun excels at creating characters that are real and that are a product of their environment. As in the other stories, the mystery is just the framework. The life and times of the characters can stand on their own even without it.

While a little darker than some of the stories, this is one of my favorites.

Sisters The Harry Neal and Cat Mystery Series Book 6 eBook Bentley Dadmun Reviews

I am a fan of all the Harry Neal and Cat stories. Here are no muscle-bound, bullet-proof heroes bouncing from one deadly peril to another; here is only a late middle-aged man with a partially disabled feline for company solving seemingly mundane mysteries that turn out to be more complex and interesting than they first appeared. In fact, to me, the innocent start to these stories followed by the revelation of deeper mysteries is perhaps the most interesting part. "Sisters" is a fully-fledged Harry & Cat story that I enjoyed very much.
It's another great story that you are entwined with Harry and the cat. Hope he writes lots more. I'm addicted.
It's amazing that an author and editor have such a poor knowledge of basic fifth grade grammar. The short story was fairly interesting.
Tell the author Bentley Dadmun to keep writing. These books are engaging, keeping the reader involved
and interested throughout. Have read them all and love the series!!
I absolutely love this series and wish there were more! This particular novella is a fun read and re-introduces us to the same beloved human...and feline (with a few extra)...characters that have made this set of novellas and book such a delight. Although the storyline was perhaps a bit obvious (at least the solution to the mystery) I still found myself pulled into Harry's world...and an odd quirky wonderfully strangely real world it is! Can I have some more pleeezzzeee??
It is #6 in a series of nine to be found on . Think of this as a nine course meal that should be enjoyed in the proper order for full enjoyment, beginning with the before dinner wine. (Harry loves wine.) Start with "Emma" for the beginning of Harry Neal and Cat's relationship and progress through "Angie," "Annie's Dream," "Harry's Lament," "Short Round," Sister's," "Sophie's Gambit," and "Harry's Game" to finish with "Dead Dead Dead, The Little Girl Said." The first eight are really novellas and the last is a full length mystery novel. The author says the first three, in particular, should be read in order. I've arranged the others as I would and did read them.
If you like cat mysteries but have had enough of librarians, book store owners, antique shop owners, professors and middle aged ladies snuggling up to the town constable, cats who are bigger than the average cat, tougher than the average cat, speak English, are clairvoyant, walk through walls or are generally smarter than their human companions, you are ready for and will love Bentley Dadmun's Harry and Cat. Harry is a believable guy who is facing geezerhood and has told the world to shove it. Cat is just cat. I'll say no more to spoil the reading experience.
Trust me, take it from the top, get to know Harry and Cat book by book and you may find yourself, as I did, finishing up this literary feast at 418 AM in the morning saying, "Damn, that was fun!"
